Kidnappers Storm Abuja, Kidnap Lecturer, Others
Kidnappers have stormed Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), kidnapping Abubakar Alkali, a lecturer at Base University, and at least five others.
According to TheCable, the victims, including the lecturer, as well as two teenagers who were returning from Quranic lecture at Wuse zone 6, were all abducted in the late hours of Saturday.
The spokesman of FCT police command, Anjuguri Manzah confirmed the incident but refused to go into details.
According to the report, one Hannah Azuibuike abducted around 8.30 pm, near Habiba plaza in Maitama, and Ummi Ardo who was kidnapped outside Blickers supermarket in Asokoro, are in custody of the suspected kidnappers.
Ardo’s father who is a politician based in Adamawa, northern Nigeria, confirmed his daughter’s abduction in a terse statement.
“My daughter, Ai’ shat Umar Ardo (Ummi)), 24, was kidnapped at Blinkers Shopping mall, No.46 Nkwame Nkurma crescent, Asokoro around 7:45 pm yesterday.
“They put her in an ash Camry and zoomed off. Nothing is heard of her since, and no call is yet received from them. Your prayer is needed. Thank you,” Ardo’s father said.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the FCT police command said the FCT police will release an official statement on the incident.
Some of the states that have recorded kidnap cases in Nigeria this year include Cross River, River, Bayelsa, Edo, Kaduna, Kogi, Ogun, Enugu and Kwara State.
