Lagos By-Election Results From Different Polling Units

Lagos by-election results have started coming in from different polling units.

Newsone Nigeria reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the Lagos by-election at exactly 8 am on Saturday, December 5, amidst tight security.

The Lagos by-election is taking place across five local government areas (LGAs): Somolu, Kosofe, Ikorodu, Epe and Ibeju-Lekki; and eleven local council development areas LCDA’s with the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, Babatunde Gbadamosi and Tokunbo Abiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, seen as the main contenders.

The Lagos by-election is taking place in Lagos East senatorial district to replace the vacant seat created due to Senator Adebayo Osinowo’s death in June 2020.

Lagos East Senatorial District, has 1, 978 polling units, 71 wards, and 1,343,448 registered voters with Kosofe II State Constituency having 337 polling units spread across six wards with a total of 280,363 registered voters.

2:23 PM: first Lagos by-election result from Ibeje/Lekki LGA sees 361 votes registered with APC polling 139 votes while PDP scored just 2 votes.
