NewsOne Nigeria reports that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led Lagos State Government, has extended hours of operations of food and non-food markets amid coronavirus in Lagos.

The Lagos markets will henceforth be open at 8 am and close at 6 pm, a statement on the Lagos market hours said.

A statement issued by the  Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr Wale Ahmed, said the decision of the Lagos market hours by Governor Sanwo-Olu is to further enhance trade and commerce as well as mitigate the hardship of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ahmed emphasised the alternate days of operations will remains in force whereby food markets open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while non -food markets open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs urged all traders to adhere strictly to the Covid-19 protocols for their safety and the citizenry at large.

The statement reads as thus; “Lagos markets are now expected to open at 8am and close at 6pm henceforth.

“The decision by Governor Babajide Sanwoolu is to further enhance trade and commerce as well as mitigate the hardship of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The alternate days of operations will remain in force whereby food markets open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while non-food markets open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday,” the statement read.
