Ancelotti’s replacement will cost Real Madrid €10 million.
Newsone Nigeria reports that Real Madrid will have to pay a buyout fee of around €10 million to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso as manager this summer.
This online news platform understands that Alonso is the leading contender to replace Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabéu.
Ancelotti’s future with the La Liga champions is now uncertain, following the team’s embarrassing 5–1 quarter-final defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League.
However, BILD reports that Madrid will have to pay a double-digit figure to Leverkusen to secure Alonso before his current contract, which runs until June 2026, expires.
Alonso is believed to have an agreement with Leverkusen CEO Fernando Cerro to allow him to leave for Real Madrid.
Madrid will likely attempt to negotiate the fee down, given their usual reluctance to pay large sums for managerial appointments.
Other reports claim that former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp could be enticed by the prospect of returning to management with the 15-time European champions, should the opportunity arise.
