The election of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has been affirmed by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital. YaahooJournalist reports that the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal upheld the victory of Governor Makinde, who contested the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday.
2. Tribunal Rules On Akinlade’s Petition Against Gov. Abiodun
Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade’s petition seeking disqualification of Governor Dapo Abiodun on grounds of submitting false academic qualification has been struck out by the Ogun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. YaahooJournalist reports that Justice Yusuf Halilu who delivered the judgment, ruled that the issue of information about academic qualification in Abiodun sworn affidavit had been laid to rest by the Appeal court, and so, petitioner can’t be allowed to resurrect or open same matter at the Tribunal since the Appellate court had deemed it “statute-barred.”
3. Tribunal Delivers Final Judgment On Governor Ayade’s victory
The victory of Governor Ben Ayade of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been affirmed by the Cross River Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Calabar, the Cross River State capital. Speaking after the judgment, Governor Ayade described the tribunal judgment as a mere reaffirmation of his resounding victory at the March 9, 2019 governorship poll.
