English Premier League giants and Champions League winners, Liverpool Football Club, have won the FIFA Club World Cup for the first time.

YaahooJournalist reports that Liverpool won the FIFA Club World Cup on Saturday night, December 21 in Qatar.

This online news platform understands that the Jürgen Klopp tutored side achieved this feat after Roberto Firmino’s extra-time goal defeated Flamengo in Qatar.

YaahooJournalist reports that 1-0 victory made history for the current team under Jürgen Klopp and secured their third major trophy of 2019.

Firmino scored the only goal of the final in the 99th minute at Khalifa International Stadium to secure the club its first triumph in the competition.

Naija News reports that the Brazilian, who was denied by the post early in the second half, concluded a well-worked move by converting from Senegalese Sadio Mane’s pass from the right-hand side of the box.

The Reds overcame a setback to add another trophy to the cabinet in Anfield as the Kops were awarded an injury-time penalty, but saw the decision overturned by VAR.

Meanwhile, YaahooJournalist reports that Liverpool’s conquering of world football will see the boys from Anfield proudly possess the “gold FIFA Champions Badge” for the next year.

The victory over Flamengo means Liverpool now earns the right to wear a prestigious symbol of the achievement.

Liverpool will be officially presented with the badge – 78 millimetres by 57 millimetres in size – at a ceremony.

UEFA will allow Liverpool to wear it in the Champions League this season and the next but it’s not set to be permitted for matches in the Premier League.

According to the rules, in the FA Cup, if the club wants to wear something different on its kit to what’s registered with the Premier League, then a formal application is required.

“As per the usage guidelines, the winning team can wear the FIFA World Champions Badge from the day it becomes champions up to and including the final of the next edition of the tournament,” A FIFA spokesperson told Liverpoolfc.com.

FIFA says the emblem can only be worn by the Liverpool first team, adding: “The badge may only be used on the current official team playing shirts.

“That means that the FIFA World Champions Badge may not be used on previous [or] historical versions of the team shirts, training jerseys, tracksuits, training tops or any other products.”
