MHWUN NAFDAC Suspends Indefinite Strike for One Month, See Why

MHWUN NAFDAC has suspended its indefinite strike for one month.

Newsone Nigeria reports that the Medical and Health Workers’ Union of Nigeria, NAFDAC Branch, has suspended its indefinite strike, which commenced on October 7, 2024, for one month.

This online news platform understands that MHWUN NAFDAC suspended its indefinite strike for one month after a productive meeting with the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu.

It was gathered that the decision to suspend the strike follows Ribadu’s acknowledgment of NAFDAC’s crucial role in national security and his commitment to expediting the approval process for the union’s demands. The National Security Adviser assured the union that he would work closely with the relevant authorities to secure the necessary approvals within the shortest possible time.

Speaking on the development in a statement, MHWUN NAFDAC Secretary, Com. Salih Aledeh, expressed gratitude to Ribadu for his timely intervention, stating that NAFDAC staff hold him in high regard and are eager to see the positive outcomes of his promises. Aledeh also commended NAFDAC staff for their unwavering support and patience throughout the strike period.

“We appreciate the National Security Adviser’s understanding of NAFDAC’s importance in maintaining national security and public health,” Aledeh said. “We look forward to seeing tangible progress on our demands and are committed to working with the management to ensure a harmonious work environment.”

“The suspension of the strike is a significant step towards resolving the outstanding issues, and the union remains optimistic about the prospects of a fruitful collaboration with the management and relevant stakeholders.

“To this end, all our members are directed to resume work on Monday, 28th October 2024,” the MHWUN NAFDAC Secretary added.
