1. A joint operation launched by the Department of State Services, the National Intelligence Agency, the police and other security agencies has successfully dismantled a terror cell and arrested five Islamic State West Africa Province commanders and 30 fighters in several areas in Abuja.

2. The United Kingdom’s General Medical Council has licensed 91 Nigerian-trained doctors. It was discovered that the accreditation of the 91 doctors occurred over 15 days between October 10 and October 25, 2022. The total number of Nigerian-trained doctors in the UK now stands at 10,387.

3. The Ondo State Police Command has begun investigation into the death of a man who allegedly died after a sex romp with a woman in the state. It was gathered that the victim, identified only as Lanre, died after a marathon sexual intercourse with the woman at a hotel in Ondo town on Wednesday.

4. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has arrived in Washington D.C in the United States of America for political campaigns. The former vice-president was welcomed by the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Dino Melaye, Phrank Shuaibu, amongst other aides.

5. A former Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Dr. Dan Shere was abducted yesterday by gunmen. It was learnt that Shere was among several other commuters who were kidnapped along the Enugu-Ugwuogo Nike-Nsukka Road on Thursday.

6. The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, Thursday night released emergency numbers nationwide with a view to avert any attack by terrorists. Baba said the Nigeria Police Force is working in collaboration with other security agencies, to ensure the safety of all residents within the country.

7. Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, has vowed to go after and arrest politicians involved in vote buying, ahead of the 2023 general elections. Bawa, who appeared before the Senate Committee on Anti-corruption, told newsmen that the Commission will work with the electoral body to implement a section of the Electoral Act that deals with inducement and vote buying.

8. Rivers State University (RSU) has placed a ban on all forms of indecent dressing within the university premises. The order was an internal memo from the institution’s Registrar/Secretary to the Senate, to the President of Students Union Government (SUG) and all students.

9. Bayelsa State government, yesterday, said it has received over N500 million in cash and pledges from Akwa Ibom and Lagos governments, as well as top politicians and philanthropists to assist flood victims. Governor Douye Diri disclosed this during the State Executive Council meeting.

10. President Muhammadu Buhari has told Nigerians living in the Republic of Korea that they serve as the “faces of Nigeria” and should work to promote a positive image of the nation by their behaviours, attitudes, and overall demeanor. According to a statement by Mr. Femi Adesina, Buhari stated this during an interactive meeting with the leadership and select members of the Nigerian Community at the First World Bio Summit 2022.
