1. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has appealed for the understanding of students, parents and concerned Nigerians as it continues to explore legal options to resolve the ongoing industrial dispute with the Federal Government without compromising the interests and welfare of the country’s intellectuals.

2. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Tuesday proposed a budget draft of N179.7 billion for the 2023 fiscal year to the House of Assembly. Ortom, while presenting the N179,750bn estimate before the lawmakers, intimated that of the amount, N106.1bn would be expended on recurrent expenditure.

3. The Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation has boasted that the presidential candidate would win the elections, even as it declared that the presidential candidate has the support of the five aggrieved governors. Its spokesman, Senator Dino Melaye, who spoke in a television programme in Abuja, claimed that some of the aggrieved governors would work for Atiku’s election.

4. The Abuja division of the Federal High Court has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to file its response to a fresh suit seeking the disqualification of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, over alleged breach of section 90(3) of the Electoral Act.

5. Fourteen passengers were killed in a tragic auto crash which occurred in Kano State, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) announced yesterday. The accident occurred around 7.30pm on Sunday night at Rege village, by Antukuwani, along Gaya-Wudil Highway, some 45 kilometres away from the metropolitan area.

6. Terrorists on Tuesday abducted a Catholic Priest in Kaduna State, Rev. Fr. Abraham Kunat. Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State, Reverend Joseph John Hayab, confirmed the abduction saying a lot was happening in the sSate unreported.

7. The Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, has called for psychiatric evaluation of governorship and presidential candidates ahead of the 2023 elections. The professional body also said medical tests of the candidates would provide a comprehensive view of the state of the body system of those aspiring to hold political offices in the country.

8. Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, has written to the Nigerian Governors Forum to request a meeting in order to decongest jails around the country. This was made known to our correspondent by the Minister’s Media Adviser, Sola Fasure, on Tuesday.

9. An FCT High Court, yesterday, convicted Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for contempt of court. The development followed the failure of the EFCC to comply with a court order asking it to return a Range Rover and the sum of N40 million to the applicant in a suit.

10. The National Operations Controller of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Mike Osatuyi, says the only realistic pump price of petrol is between N200 and N210 per litre. Osatuyi said the Federal Government’s pricing template that fixed pump price at N169 per litre of petrol is grossly unrealistic when landing cost of the fuel at the station is N194 per litre.
