Nigeria Police Promotion 2020 list is finally out.

NewsOne Nigeria reports that the Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Mohammed Adamu, has finally announced the promotion of Nigeria Police officers, putting an end to the search for the Nigeria Police Promotion 2020 list by officers of the NPF.

The release of the Nigeria Police Promotion 2020 list confirms an exclusive report filed by this online news platform nine  months ago about police promotion list 2020.

March 2, NewsOne Nigeria filed a report titled: “EXCLUSIVE: Nigeria Police Set For New 2020 Promotion, See Date, Officers Affected,” regarding the police promotion of officers of the Nigeria Police.

In our March report about Nigeria police promotion 2020, NewsOne Nigeria exclusively gathered that the promotion will  include officers whose names were omitted in the last promotion, in what can best be described as “justice for the affected officers.”

NewsOne Nigeria reports that the police signal (Police Wireless Message) also instructed that those Nigeria police officers “omitted in the last promotion whose date of last promotion was 7/12/2015 should also include their names for proper documentation.”

Exactly 9 months after our exclusive report on the Nigeria Police Promotion 2020 list, the IGP has announced the promotion of juniors officers and senior officers of the NPF including those killed during the #EndSARS protests.

Below is a breakdown of the Nigeria Police Promotion 2020 list

  1. IGP approved the promotion of Eighty-Two Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seventy Nine (82,779) Junior Police Officers to their next ranks.
  2. The promotion of the officers comprising 56,779 Sergeants to Inspector.
  3. 17,569 Corporal promoted to Sergeants.
  4. 8,431 Constables to Corporal is part of the on-going efforts at boosting the morale of personnel and repositioning the Force for greater efficiency.
  5. Those promoted also include 86 junior officers negatively impacted by the ENDSARS riots.
  6. 16 got special posthumous promotion.

IGP PROMOTES 82,779 JUNIOR POLICE OFFICERS

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni, has today, 23rd November, 2020 approved the promotion of Eighty-Two Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seventy Nine (82,779) Junior Police Officers to their next ranks.

“The promotion of the officers comprising 56,779 Sergeants to Inspector, 17,569 Corporal to Sergeants and 8,431 Constables to Corporal is part of the on-going efforts at boosting the morale of personnel and repositioning the Force for greater efficiency.

“hose promoted also include 86 junior officers negatively impacted by the ENDSARS riots – 16 got special posthumous promotion while 70 others injured during the violence arising from the ENDSARS protests were equally specially promoted.

“The IGP, while congratulating the officers, charged them to see their promotion as a mark of additional responsibility and a call to rededicate themselves to their professional calling.

“He enjoined them to continue to carry out their duties diligently and in conformity with best practices and respect for the rights of the citizen.

“He noted that the promotion albeit, posthumously, of the officers who were killed by some ENDSARS protesters is a symbolic gesture in recognition of the ultimate price they paid in the service of the nation.

“The IGP promised to work with all relevant agencies, organs of Government and other stakeholders in driving a successful reform of the Police for improved welfare and conditions of service towards better service delivery to the people,” the statement added.
