Npower: Minister Gives Transition Update To Batch A And B Npower Beneficiaries
Npower Batch A and B Npower beneficiaries have been assured of a successful transition.
NewsOne Nigeria reports that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq said she and her team were working to ensure a successful transition for the Npower beneficiaries.
The assurance of the Minister is coming after the federal government of Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari disengaged Npower Batch A beneficiaries of the scheme in June 2020 while Npower Batch B beneficiaries will also be disengaged by the end of July.
Explaining the reason for its decision, the federal government had said that the move was not to punish affected Npower beneficiaries but to make resources available to cater for the in-coming Batch C beneficiaries.
The government however assured that the Batch A and B beneficiaries will not be left to their fate as efforts are ongoing to transit them into an entrepreneurship programme.
Giving an update on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, the Minister noted that the plans and efforts to create a successful transition for the exiting beneficiaries were still in place.
The Minister wrote: “My team and I continue to interface with stakeholders to ensure a successful transition for the @npower_ng. It has been 16 days since the portal opened and we have received 4.48 million applications to date.”
