Professor Jerome Elusiyan, a senior lecturer of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife has been reportedly shot dead in Edo State.

YaahooJournalist gathered that the OAU Professor was gunned down by unknown gunmen in Benin City, the Edo State capital on Friday, December 13 in Edo state, southern Nigeria.

This online news platform understands that the OAU Professor was shot dead during the attack while his driver sustained gunshot injuries.

Before his death, Professor Elusiyan was also the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC).

Although the details of the attack are sketchy as of the time of filing this report, YaahooJournalist, however, learned that the OAU Professor was travelling between Ekpoma and Benin alongside his driver when he was allegedly attacked by gunmen.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of OAUTHC, Kemi Fasoto, confirmed the incident, saying: “it is true that Professor Elusiyan was killed by gunmen in Edo State.”
