Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, was disgraced at the Oba of Benin palace ahead of Edo 2020.
NewsOne Nigeria reports that Governor Obaseki was on Saturday booed by a crowd of youths with chants of ‘thief’ as he visited the palace of the Oba of Benin in Benin City, Edo State, southern Nigeria.
This online news medium understands that Governor Obaseki, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, was at the Palace of the Oba of Benin on Saturday morning to receive royal blessings as he kicked off his campaign to return for a second term in office.
However, some youths who were part of the crowd gathered in front of the palace had other plans as they chanted and booed Governor’ Obasekis convoy as they approached the palace of the Oba of Benin.
The apparently furious youths were seen and heard chanting ‘thief’ and other unpleasant statements as the governor’s convoy approached the palace.

Meanwhile, Governor Obaseki who is seeking a second term in office as the governor of Edo state will slug it out with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other candidates in the September 19 Edo governorship election in the state.
