One Killed, Five Injured In Shooting Near Presidential Villa
At least one person has been killed and five others left with various degrees of injured after a shooting on the streets of Washington, DC, not far from the White House, the United States Presidential Villa.
YaahooJournalist reports that the Police revealed that the shooting near the Presidential Villa took place on Thursday, and as at the time of fling this report, the motive of the shooting is still yet to be ascertained.
Stuart Emerman, a Metropolitan Police Commander, while speaking on the shooting near the Presidential Villa, said it was not an active shooting situation.
“Detectives are interviewing witnesses and looking for camera footage,” Emerman said.
YaahooJournalist learned that two of the injured victims were considered critical and other injuries ranged from serious to minor, but all were expected to survive, he said.
All of the victims of the shooting near the Presidential Villa are adults, Emerman said in his brief statement.
It was learned that the gunfire erupted in the Columbia Heights neighbourhood, about 2 miles (3 kilometers) from the White House, about 10 p.m. Thursday, and happened outdoors in a courtyard of an apartment building, police said.
ABC affiliate WJLA-TV gave an update of the shooting near the Presidential Villa by posting images on Twitter of ambulances carrying victims from the scene and said there had been a “massive” police response at the intersection of 14th Street and Columbia Road.
