Osun Decides 2022: Live Osun Election Results From Polling Units

Osun Decides 2022, Live Osun Election Results from polling units can be accessed below.

Newsone reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the Osun governorship election at exactly 8 am on Saturday, July 16, 2022, amidst tight security.

This online news platform understands that the Osun governorship election took place in all the Local Government Areas (LGAs), Wards, and Polling units in the state.

Newsone reports that the Osun election 2022 has four parties, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, Labour Party, and the Accord Party as the main contenders in terms of political parties contesting the election.

The ruling APC has the incumbent Governor, Gboyega Oyetola as its candidate, Ademola Adeleke is the candidate of the PDP, while Lasun who was earlier touted to have stepped down for PDP, is bearing the flag of the Labour Party.

Newsone Nigeria reports that all the governorship candidates are in the race to succeed the executive governor of the state, Gboyega Oyetola,  and had battled it out in a debate held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital recently, where they made their plans and policies known to the people of the state.

Below are the Osun Election Results…

Newsone reports that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, Ademola Adeleke, has been declared the winner of the Osun governorship election.

This online news platform understands that INEC returning officer for the state, Toyin Ogundipe, announced the result of the Osun election 2022 on Sunday morning, July 17, 2022.

“I declare that Adeleke Jackson Nurudeen Ademola of the PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and he is returned elected,” Ogundipe said.

Newsone Nigeria reports that PDP’s Adeleke secured 403, 371 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 375,027 votes.

The PDP candidate won 17 LGAs while the incumbent governor secured victory in 13 LGAs. Kehinde Atanda of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) placed a distant third with 10,104 votes while Yusuf Lasun of the Labour Party (LP) had 2729 votes.

To emerge the winner of the keenly contested governorship election, the PDP candidate triumphed in some key LGAs in the state.

In Ede South, Adeleke who is popularly known as ‘dancing senator’ picked up 19,438 votes while Oyetola had 5704.

Adeleke polled 30,401 votes in Osogbo — well ahead of the APC flag bearer who secured 22,952 votes. The PDP candidate also won Ede North, Odo Otin, Ifelodun, and Irepodun LGAs, among others.

Meanwhile, Newsone reports that Iwo, Ayedade, Boripe, and Isokan were among the 13 LGAs won by incumbent governor Oyetola.
