#OsunDecides2022: Nigerians Drag Fisayo For Calling Adeleke Intellectually Empty
Nigerians have berated Fisayo for calling Adeleke intellectually empty.
Newsone reports that a Nigerian journalist, Fisayo Soyombo, has received criticisms from Nigerians for referring to the Osun State Governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke as “intellectually empty”.
This online news platform had reported earlier that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, Ademola Adeleke, was declared the winner of the Osun governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigeria’s electoral umpire.
The INEC returning officer for the state, Toyin Ogundipe, announced the result of the Osun election 2022 on Sunday morning, July 17, 2022.
“I declare that Adeleke Jackson Nurudeen Ademola of the PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and he is returned elected,” Ogundipe said.
Newsone Nigeria reports that PDP’s Adeleke secured 403, 371 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 375,027 votes.
The PDP candidate won 17 LGAs while the incumbent governor secured victory in 13 LGAs. Kehinde Atanda of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) placed a distant third with 10,104 votes while Yusuf Lasun of the Labour Party (LP) had 2729 votes.
Reacting to the emergence of Adeleke as the new governor of Osun State, southwest Nigeria, Fisayo took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter, where he wrote that “What has happened in Osun is what I’d call ‘rotational motion’. Oyetola, the non-performing governor-puppet of the grandest godfather of Nigerian politics kicked out, but for who? Intellectually empty Adeleke who will dance the next 4 years away? 5 steps forward, 6 backward!”

Apparently displeased with his statement, Nigerians berated the journalist on the micro-blogging site, stressing that he had no right to judge the governor-elect when he was yet to assume office as the governor of Osun State.
Nigerians captured some of the reactions against Fisayo’s post below…
Very stupid take Fisayo. https://t.co/bWOJpKuZxE

Sometimes I begin to wonder how people who claim to be Intellectuals define Greatness! You don’t measure a man’s Success & Achievements through Academic qualifications Fisayo! Grow up @fisayosoyombo @davido #OsunDecides2022 https://t.co/cM0hkPdCZj

Fisayo, don’t you think your conclusion on adeleke may not be correct? He has not even been swore in as the governor yet you have labelled him a failure. Am sure you came into this conclusion because of d debate but what if adeleke surrounds himself with intelligent people like https://t.co/f03WmkREeq

This is so low of Fisayo.
You can’t base a man’s competence on his hubby.
A lot of Professors have failed in governance in this same country. https://t.co/Gs181MVeag

Fisayo thinks because someone dances, he is intellectually empty. Some of you really make some careless assumptions sha.

Because you’re a Journo doesn’t make you a smart man Fisayo.
Adeleke dancing ≠ being intellectually empty. https://t.co/CZwMQ1aq9b

Fisayo, the CEO is not always the smartest. A strategy and a competent team/employee is what determine how far and how well you fare in business and even in government. https://t.co/fP8hBNewVY

Judging the man even before he assumes office. Way to go Fisayo. https://t.co/TBqlkiSW2Y

Fisayo keeps ranting about how Adeleke will fail called him intellectually-empty. See, most of you people they gave blue tick are a problem. When asked he said because he has listened to him and thinks he has nothing to offer. This man hasn’t even being sworn in.

Fisayo or what’s your name, you fvucked up and you don’t need the statement you passed on the incoming governor of osun state. Dancing is his hobby and no crime in that, as you also have your hobby too. Stop forming woke on matters arising. #ImoleDe

Fisayo does not live in Osun and does not feel what Osun people feel, he is not qualified to question their choice.
Thank you bros, Osun is satisfied with whatever choice they made. https://t.co/NoBBHWaAqw

Fisayo this is too hasty & disrespectful, he hasn’t even done one day, you are already talking about how he will dance for the next 4, makes no sense.
Yes, he may not be the smartest guy in the room, but with the right team around him, his state can be better run.
Give him time.— Gospel_Rx (@oga_pharmacist) July 17, 2022
Fisayo Soyombo goofed for the first time for me, what is intellectually-empty, let him enter first, he has not even acted once as Governor of Osun.
It is not by oratory prowess.
— Temitope Samuel Abegunde (@hon_ags) July 17, 2022
This is not responsible journalism. Adeleke has not even done one day in office, but you’ve concluded he’d be worse off than Oyetola cos he dances.
Fisayo, please do better! https://t.co/1M2xN7mWez

Why do you people keep saying Adeleke is intellectually lazy? A carefree attitude does not mean he’s intellectually docile and just because he is inarticulate and unexpressive does not mean he is rationally inept. Stop selling this narrative, Fisayo. https://t.co/2ucg5po2mV
