The family of the immediate past President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, says it has secured an ex parte injunction restraining the Kwara State Government, the state House of Assembly and their agencies from further demolition of Ile Arugbo.

YaahooJournalist reports that one of the family’s lawyers, Abdulazeez Ibrahim, made this known while briefing journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital on Monday.

Ibrahim explained that the order was yet to be served on the parties concerned because the injunction was secured almost at the close of work on Monday.

When contacted, Salman Jawondo, the Kwara State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice said the state government was yet to receive the injunction from the court.

The Kwara State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice promised that the government will comply with the injunction as soon as it is received.

Meanwhile, the statement by the family is coming days after Saraki said justice will prevail over the demolition of Ile Arugbo, his family property in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital by the State government led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

YaahooJournalist reports that that Ile Arugbo (House for old persons), was demolished in the early hours of Thursday, January 2, after the state government revoked the title of the landed property.

Reacting to Ile Arugbo demolition in a statement Thursday night, Saraki, a former Governor of Kwara State, north-central Nigeria, thanked the people for their solidarity.

“Following development this morning in Ile Arugbo, I want to commend the women, men, old and young, who displayed their affection, love and staunch support for my late father and the family”, he said.
