Sheikh Gumi Is A Hungry Wolf That Thirsts For Blood - Fani-Kayode

Sheikh Gumi is a hungry wolf that thirsts for blood, Fani-Kayode has said.

Newsone reports that a former Nigerian Minister of Aviation and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, Femi Fani-Kayode, has berated popular Nigerian Islamic cleric, Sheikh Gumi Ahmad Gumi of pretending to be who he is not.

This online news online news platform understands that Fani-Kayode’s attack on Sheikh Gumi came a day after the cleric explained his role and of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, in the recent release of the 27 students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State.

Newsone reports that the students were freed by their abductors on Wednesday after spending over seven weeks in captivity. They were among 37 abducted from the school on March 11, but some were rescued earlier.

However, while receiving the parents of the freed students on an appreciation visit on Thursday, Gumi explained the role of the former president in the pact.

“The role myself and former President Olusegun Obasanjo played in the release of the 27 Afaka students is the role of mediators because the fight is not between us and them (bandits) but between the bandits and the government,” Punch newspaper quoted him to have said.

“What we understand is that these people are trying to attack the government by attacking the government institutions and take innocent children.

“Having understood that we came to the conclusion that this is not a hopeless situation and that we can really go in and negotiate for the release of these children, which we did after so many ups and downs.

“But in the long run, a conclusion was reached and these children are out. So, we are happy that, all of them are out and none was killed.”

On Friday night, a day after Sheikh Gumi explained his role in the release of the kidnapped students, Fani-Kayode has taken to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to lambaste the Islamic cleric.

In series of tweets monitored by Newsone reporter, Fani-Kayode said: “Sheik Ahmad Gumi is the physical manifestation and living personification of unadulterated and pure evil. He speaks peace but war is in his heart,” the former Minister said.

Newsone reports that Fani-Kayode continued that “Behind his seemingly gentle visage and soft words lies a hungry and insatiable wolf that thirsts for blood.

“He is the quintessential Janjaweed terrorist: a man with no morals and no scruples. He reminds me of the Pied Piper of Hamlin that led the children away. Those who trust him do so at their own peril,” Fani-Kayode warned about Sheikh Gumi.
