BREAKING: Strike Suspended As FG, Labour Reach Agreement (Details)

Labour has suspended its proposed strike after reaching an agreement with FG.

Newsone Nigeria reports that the Federal Government reached an agreement with Labour unions in Nigeria at exactly 2:53 am on Monday, September 28, over a nationwide strike proposed by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN) disclosed this in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Monday morning.

According to the Minister of State for Labour, the agreement reached between the Federal Government and the Labour Unions on Monday morning is that deregulation will stay with the Federal Government rolling out palliatives for labour. The minister said the details of the palliatives, would be disclosed in the next two weeks.

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment also disclosed that the electricity tariffs has been suspended by government for 2 weeks with a joint Committee headed him (Keyamo) to examine the justification for the new policy.

Keyamo added that the Labour unions have suspended the proposed strike action which was scheduled to start from today (Monday) according to an earlier tweet by the NLC.

Meanwhile, this is coming after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) had earlier called on Nigerians in a tweet to prepare for strike action if its demands were not met by the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

“STRIKE BEGINS TOMMOROW MONDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER, UNLESS OUR DEMANDS ARE MET – NLC.“
