Sunday Igboho has appeared in a new video campaigning for President Tinubu.
Newsone Nigeria reports that Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu, including advocating for his re-election and suggesting continuation beyond his current term.
Igboho, who was declared wanted in 2021 by the Muhammadu Buhari administration, made this statement in a video currently going viral on the micro-blogging site, X formerly known as Twitter.
In the video, Igboho campaigned for President Tinubu’s re-election and warned that political figures such as Peter Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, and Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, must not come to Southwest Nigeria, a prominent geopolitical zone comprising six states—Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo—inhabited primarily by the Yoruba-speaking ethnic group.

” Tinubu, for 2nd term, don’t bring any, and when he finishes 2nd term, we will attempt 3rd term and more. Don’t bring your stupid Peter Obi and Atiku to South West,” Igboho could be heard saying in the video.

Meanwhile, Newsone reports that Igboho had been in exile after the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari declared him wanted over allegations of stockpiling arms and ammunition. He returned to the country in January 2026.
On July 1, 2021, a joint operation by the Department of State Security (DSS) and military personnel attempted to arrest him at his Ibadan residence in Oyo State. The raid resulted in the deaths of two of his aides and the arrest of 13 others.
After returning to the country, Igboho expressed particular gratitude to President Tinubu for granting him a pardon, describing it as a key step in his return to Nigeria.
In a statement, Igboho said, “I deeply appreciate the mercy and maganimity of our revered President Bola Tinubu, who graciously granted me freedom to return to Nigeria after intervention by stakeholders in the traditional institution.”
“While I would not take this opportunity and freedom for granted, I am ready to collaborate with the Federal Government in tackling the ravaging insecurity and support measures aimed at enhancing peace and socioeconomic growth in the country, especially in the South West,” he said.
Addressing critics who questioned his alliance with the Tinubu administration, Igboho stated: “It will not be well with anyone who says I should not support President Tinubu. They want me to remain in exile while they keep using my name to raise money for themselves”.
The Yoruba Nation activist acknowledged that he had heavily criticized and insulted President Tinubu in the past, but the Nigerian leader chose to forgive him and restore his dignity.
Some reports indicate that Igboho’s shift in position has led to accusations from other secessionist groups that Igboho is a “traitor” or “disgrace” to the Yoruba nation agitation. In contrast to his past rhetoric, recent videos show Igboho promoting unity with the APC administration.
