Tinubu Government Speaks On Proposing ₦105k New Minimum Wage

Tinubu Government has spoken on proposing ₦105k New Minimum Wage.

Newsone Nigeria reports that the Presidency has denied reports that the Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun proposed N105,000 as minimum wage.

 

This online news platform understands that a report emerged on Thursday afternoon, June 6, 2024, quoting a credible source from the Villa that Edun presented a new minimum wage template of N105,000 (approximately $220) per month for Nigerian workers.

The report claimed that President Tinubu is reviewing the proposal, and an official announcement is expected soon.

However, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, debunked the ₦105k New Minimum Wage news in a tweet, saying: “The Honorable Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun has not proposed N105,000 minimum wage. The contrary story being disseminated is false”.
