President Muhammadu Buhari’s request for N23.7 trillion ‘Ways and Means’ request for approval have sparked an uproar in Senate on Wednesday. The uproar which forced the red chambers into a close door session started when Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance presented the Committee report on “Approval of Ways and Means”, a request sent to the Senate by President Muhammadu Buhari.

More revelation has emerged over speculation surrounding the death of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. George Obiozor’s death. A highly placed chieftain of Ohanaeze confirmed to DAILY POST that Obiozor died on December 26th.

The spokesperson of the House, Ben Kalu, in a statement on Wednesday, said the speaker never promised the lecturers payment of arrears.

Barely three weeks after policemen from the Ajah Division, Lagos State, were reported to have gunned down one Gafaru Buraimoh of Happy Land Estate, Ajah, in the State, they struck again, taking another precious life of an innocent Nigerian identified as Omobolanle Raheem. News One reported that a Lagos-based lawyer, Raheem, pregnant with a child, was, on 25 December, brutally shot dead in the presence of her husband for no justifiable reason, sadly enough, by the police from the same Ajah Division.

The youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has again come hard on Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over the political intrigues playing out in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of the 2023 presidential election. News One reports that Wike and his aggrieved G-5 governors are currently out of the country where they are expected to take a final stand on the candidate to support for the country’s top political position.

7. Niger lawmakers pass 2023 budget with additional N5bn

Legislators of the Niger State House of Assembly have passed the 2023 Appropriation Bill of over N243 billion as against over N238 billion earlier presented by the State Governor, Alh Abubakar Sani Bello into law. This shows an increase of about N5 billion to the Bill.

8. Bikers tragedy: Gov Ayade, Buhari’s daughter, commissioners, guests observe minute silence

Governor Ben Ayade and President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Zahra Buhari Indimi, his commissioners, carnival officials, participants, guests and tourists observed a one-minute silence in honour of those killed yesterday during bikers’ parade segment of the ongoing Calabar Carnival. A car had lost control and rammed into the spectators and bystanders on one of the carnival routes in Calabar, killing over 10 persons and critically injuring 20 others.

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is healthy and intellectually fit to rule Nigeria. The declaration was made on Wednesday in Osogbo by Mr Adeboye Adebayo, a member of the APC’s Presidential Campaign Council.
