Udeh Okoye has emerged as the substantive PDP National Secretary.
Newsone Nigeria reports that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, confirmed Udeh Okoye as the party’s substantive national secretary on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
According to a statement by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the decision followed a thorough examination of a memo presented to the party by the Acting National Chairman regarding legal judgments affirming Udeh Okoye’s position.
The statement added that the PDP NWC considered several key documents during its meeting, including a declaratory judgment from the High Court of Enugu and a judgment from the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, both of which declared Udeh Okoye the PDP’s National Secretary.
Additionally, they reviewed legal opinions from Dr Kabiru T. Turaki SAN and the PDP’s National Legal Adviser.
“After due consideration of the Memo and the attachments, the NWC overwhelmingly recognizes, acknowledges and confirms Rt. Hon. S.K.E Udeh Okoye as the substantive National Secretary of the PDP in full compliance with and obedience to the Judgement of the Court of Appeal, recognizing that there is no subsisting or superseding Judgment or Order from any Court of superior authority or hierarchy”, the statement added.
