The United States Embassy in Nigeria has denied reports making the rounds that Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church, was denied Visa by the Embassy.

YaahooJournalist reports that ThisDay had erroneously reported that Oyedepo was at the embassy in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Thursday, January 30 where he was told that he did not qualify for visa renewal after its assessment.

Bishop Oyedepo Visa

The newspaper also claimed in its report that Bishop Oyedepo created a scene at the embassy after being denied a visa.

However, on Friday, January 31, the Embassy took to its twitter handle @USEmbassyAbuja to announce that the news report which emanated from Thisday Newspaper, was totally fake, urging Nigerians to defeat the fake news with the correct information.

The Embassy wrote: “#FalseNews Alert! Be advised, the reports making the rounds about a visa being denied to Nigerian Bishop Oyedepo are false.

“If you have seen this manufactured item in the media, help defeat this #misinformation by communicating to everyone that it is completely false,” the US Embassy said.
