Pat Utomi, who is a renowned professor of political economy, stepped down and endorsed Obi on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the venue of the party’s presidential primaries in Delta.

Obi had said after joining Labour Party: “ For me, the process of achieving our goal is as fundamental as what one will do thereafter.

“Therefore, I have chosen a route that I consider to be in line with our aspirations and my mantra of taking the country from consumption to production; and that is the Labour Party which is synonymous with the people, workers, development, production, securing and uniting Nigerians as one family.”

Since Obi’s emergence as the Labour Party candidate, Nigerians, especially the youths have been campaigning and urging others to vote for the former Anambra State governor come to the 2023 election, claiming that “Peter Obi will fix Nigeria“.

While some Nigerians are campaigning for Obi as their preferred candidate for the 2023 election, others have pitched tents with Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, and Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP candidate.

Giving his opinion on Obi’s candidacy for the 2023 election like other Nigerians, Father Mbaka said Nigerians are hungry hence they don’t need a stingy man as their President.

“A stingy man cannot be our President, we are already hungry, we need a generous person. Nigerians are hungry, are we not hungry”? Father Mbaka asked the crowd.

The genesis of Peter Obi’s stinginess according to Father Mbaka

Newsone recalls that Father Mbaka in December 2018, berated Obi who was Atiku Abubakar’s running mate for the 2019 election, for not doing a project for his church, warning him of the consequences.

In a video that went viral at the time, Father Mbaka curiously withheld Obi’s blessing and said he would only release it after Obi had done a project for Adoration Ministry which Mbaka heads.

“My brother and Governor, stand before all of us and tell what you want to do for God,” The fiery priest had said in December 2018.

Responding, Obi said: “Father, what I said is straightforward. You will come and show me the project so that the two of us will talk. That is what I said.”

Apparently displeased by Obi’s stinginess, Father Mbaka then accused the former Anambra governor of making a “political statement” and being deceitful.

“I can only bear witness to what I have tasted. You can be promising and doing for them in Anambra. In your capacity and what God has done for you as governor, God hates stinginess. What I am saying is not to please you, but what will save your life. Otherwise, you and Atiku will fail”, the Catholic priest had warned.
