Newsone Nigeria reports that Conservative activist Charlie Kirk has died after being shot at a campus event in Utah, a landlocked state in the Mountain West subregion of the Western United States.
This online news platform understands that Kirk, an influential ally of President Donald Trump, was known for hosting outdoor debates on campuses across the United States.
Reacting to the Charlie Kirk shooting video, President Trump said: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” writes Trump. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.”
Meanwhile, Newsone reports that the Police are still looking for the attacker and are going “building to building” to evacuate people. A suspect was taken into custody but later released.
The university says the shot was fired from around 200 yards away. Kirk’s wife and two young children were on campus, a senator says.
One video shows Kirk being asked about mass shootings before the shot was fired.
Kirk, who founded conservative group Turning Point USA at age 18, was close to the president and his family – in January, he flew to Greenland with Donald Trump Jr.
