A video of Nigerian soldiers killing #EndSARS protesters at Lekki toll gate has emerged.
Newsone Nigeria had reported earlier soldiers of the Nigerian Army opened fire on peaceful #EndSARS protesters camping at Lekki toll gate in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.
The attack on the #EndSARS protesters in its wake, left “several” protesters dead and others injured according to videos published on Twitter by eyewitnesses.
Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that the Nigerian youths have been on the streets for more than a week now, protesting the brutalities, humiliation, and extortion of Nigerians, especially the youths.
During the protests, the protesters demanded an end to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a police unit under the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department headed by the Deputy Inspector General of Police Anthony Ogbizi, using a hashtag: #EndSARS.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu disbanded SARS on Sunday, October 11, 2020, following a widespread protest from Nigerians worldwide but despite this, the protesters have refused to leave the streets.
However, #EndSARS protesters protesting in Oshodi area of Lagos on Monday, October 19, were heard chanting “Tinubu Ole” in Yoruba which translates to “Tinubu thief”, a situation which can best be described as an embarrassment to Tinubu, a two-time former governor of Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city.
