President Tinubu has revealed what would have happened to Yoruba history if he had failed in the last election.
Newsone Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has stated that the history of the Yoruba people would not have been complete had he not won the last election.
President Tinubu made the remarks on Sunday at the 8th day of Fidau prayers for the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
The Awujale of Ijebuland, a longtime friend of former President Muhammadu Buhari, died on Sunday at the age of 91, the same day the former President died.
Adetona passed away just hours after the death of former President Buhari was announced.
The monarch was one of the longest-serving monarchs, having reigned for 64 years. He ascended the throne on April 2, 1960. His friendship with the former Nigerian president and Head of State dated back to the 1980s.
President Tinubu said the traditional ruler had blessed him and urged him to run for the 2023 presidential election, assuring him of victory.
The President added, “Our history would not have been completed carefully and richly if I had failed in the last election.
“I was successful because of your support and the blessing of the late Awujale.”
