Yahoo Boys Kidnap 40-Year-Old Man In Ogun, Kill Him For Money Ritual
Yahoo boys Kidnapped a 40-year-old man in Ogun and killed him for money ritual.
Newsone reports that two suspected internet fraudsters, otherwise known as Yahoo boys, have confessed to the police how they kidnapped a 40-year-old man and killed him for a money-making ritual in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria.
This online news platform understands that Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun, said the suspects told the police that the victim Abdullahi Azeez, was dismembered after they took his life.
The suspects, Friday Abinya Odeh (21) and Poso Idowu (20), Oyeyemi said, were arrested after a report was lodged at the Owode Egba Police Division on June 9, 2022, by the relations of the victim that he left his home at Kobape on June 8, but never returned.
Newsone Nigeria reports that Lanre Bankole, the State Commissioner of Police, was said to have directed the anti-kidnapping unit of the State CIID to take over the case and unravel the mystery behind the man’s disappearance.
In compliance with the CP’s directive, the SP Taiwo Opadiran-led team reportedly embarked on a technical investigation, and the hideout of Friday Abinya Odeh was discovered on September 22.
It was learned that the victim’s SIM card was recovered at the hideout.
The arrest of Odeh, Oyeyemi said, led to the apprehension of his accomplice, Poso Idowu.
“On interrogation, the suspects confessed that they kidnapped the victim on the 8th of June 2022 at the Kobape area, at about 7:30 pm, from where they forcefully took him to the bush, killed him and dismembered his body.
“They confessed further that it was one herbalist simply identified as Arab money who they claimed to have contacted on Facebook that prescribed the ritual for them,” the police spokesman explained.
He added that efforts to recover the victim’s remains proved futile, saying the suspects claimed to have disposed of them.
Meanwhile, the state Police Commissioner, Bankole, has directed that the suspects be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
