Nigerian Singer Tems has won her first Grammy Award.

Newsone reports that Temilade Openiyi, a Nigerian singer,  popularly known as Tems, has won her first Grammy Award, making her the first female Afrobeats artiste to do that.

This online news platform understands that Tems won the award at the ongoing ceremony at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the United States of America (USA) on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

The singer’s contribution to the hit ‘Wait For U’ by Future featuring Drake earned her the award.

Newsone Nigeria reports that Tems had earlier reported that Tems was among the guests invited to the annual Roc Nation pre-Grammy Brunch on Saturday.

Tems, who dressed in a white gown, was seen in a viral social media video, conversing with Roc Nation founder Jay-Z and his wife, Beyoncé.

The pre-Grammy brunch was held at a private residence in Bel-Air, Los Angeles.

In a related development, Newsone reports that award-winning singer, Damini Ogbulu, known better as Burna Boy lost two nominations.

Burna Boy lost the ‘Best Global Music Album’ and the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ categories.
