The exchange rate between the Naira and the US dollar according to the data posted on the FMDQ Security Exchange where forex is officially traded showed that the naira opened at ₦428.2099 per dollar on Tuesday, 16th August 2022, after it closed at ₦423.361 per $1 on Monday, 15 August 2022.

The local currency opened at N680.00 per $1 at the parallel market otherwise known as the black market, today, Tuesday, 16 August 2022, in Lagos Nigeria after it closed N680.00 per $1 on Monday, August 15, 2022.

Even though the dollar to naira opened in the parallel market at ₦680 per $1 today, Newsone reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognise the parallel market, otherwise known as the black market. The apex bank has therefore directed anyone who requires forex to approach their bank, insisting that the I&E window is the only known exchange.

Newsone Nigeria reports that on the black market, the players buy a dollar for N677 and sell for N680 on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, after they bought N676 and sold for N680 on Monday, August 15, 2022.

Meanwhile, Newsone Nigeria reports that the USD started this week at ₦680 in Parallel Market also known as Black Market on Monday, August 15, 2022, in Lagos Nigeria, after it opened at  ₦685 last week Monday, August 8, 2022.
