Popular Nigerian Politician from the South is dead.

Newsone reports that a two term member of the Cross River State House of Assembly,  Cross River, southern Nigeria, Lady Elizabeth Edem Ironbar is dead.

This online news platform understands that the popular Nigerian politician from the South died in the early hours of today, Wednesday, October 27, 2021, after a protracted illness family sources say.

Mrs. Ironbar who represented Akpabuyo constituency since June 2015, was known for her Cross River State Disability Commission bill and is the second member of the ninth Assembly to die.

Newsone Nigeria understands that the death of the popular Nigerian politician, means that the eighth and ninth Assembly which she was a member of have lost two members during the lifespan of the Assemblies.Late Ironbar, who was a tough politician, was said to have negotiated her way for her two terms in office despite not being the preferred candidate of party chieftains who wanted a male loyalist.

This came to play when she refused to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, alongside other members who followed Governor Ben Ayade from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party.
