Speaker Mojisola Meranda Security Withdrawn As Obasa Storms Lagos Assembly

Speaker Mojisola Meranda security aides have been withdrawn.

Newsone Nigeria reports that all police escorts attached to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda and those assigned to secure the Assembly complex have been withdrawn with immediate effect.

Speaker’s Special Adviser on Information, Victor Ganzallo, who confirmed the development, voiced serious concerns over the sudden removal of security personnel, describing it as alarming.

“As we speak, all security has been withdrawn from the Speaker, and she is now on her own,” Ganzallo stated.

Ganzallo cautioned that the Speaker now faces heightened security risks, stressing the urgent need to address the situation and restore adequate protection.

It was gathered that the ousted speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, stormed the assembly complex immediately after Speaker Mojisola Meranda’s security aides were withdrawn.

Obasa who stormed the Lagos Assembly complex in the company of some security officials, entered the Speaker’s Office around noon on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

The Chief Press Secretary to Meranda, Segun Ajiboye, confirmed the latest in a short message on Thursday, accusing Obasa and his team of allegedly breaking into the office.

“We’re at the assembly now,” a source in the Obasa camp also said.
