Newsone reports that Nigerians in Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city, defied the midnight rain on Monday morning, May 15, 2023, to support Nigerian Jollof Queen, Hilda Effiong Bassey popularly known as Hilda Baci, who is attempting a Guinness World Record for the longest cook-a-thon (cooking marathon).

The rain started in the Lekki area of Lagos State where Hilda is currently cooking, around 1:00 am and was still on when filling this report even as Nigerians at The Amore Gardens Lekki event center continued to chant Hilda’s name.

On Sunday, May 14, Nigerians including celebrities like Charles Okocha, turned out en-masse to motivate the Nigerian Jollof Queen. The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Magaret Peter Obi, the wife of the former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi were at the venue to support Miss Bassey.
